Questions

Quick answers

What is Huqqs?
Huqqs is a lyric visualizer for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It identifies the song playing nearby with Apple ShazamKit, displays word-synced lyrics with translation, and runs over 50 audio-reactive visual stages picked by an on-device AI. A dancing pet can be added to any stage.
What devices does Huqqs run on?
iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later, and Apple Silicon Macs (M1 or later) — where Huqqs runs as an iPhone & iPad app on Mac. Huqqs is available exclusively on the Apple App Store.
Does Huqqs work with Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube?
Yes. Huqqs listens through the device microphone, so it works with any music the microphone can hear — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, external speakers, a friend's car stereo, or a vinyl record. There is no integration with any specific streaming service.
How does Huqqs identify songs?
Huqqs uses Apple ShazamKit. A short audio fingerprint (a derived hash, not the raw audio) is sent to Apple for matching. Separately, Huqqs may send a short audio sample to its own servers to keep lyrics in sync — it is never stored or shared.
How much does Huqqs cost?
Huqqs is free to download, and during early access every feature is free — every stage, every pet, word-synced lyrics, and translation. No account is required. Subscription pricing will arrive in a future update, and early users will get a heads-up before anything changes.
Does Huqqs work without an internet connection?
Song identification and lyrics fetch require an internet connection. Once a song has been identified and the lyrics are loaded, the visualizer continues to run on-device without a connection.
How is Huqqs different from Apple Music or Spotify lyrics?
Apple Music and Spotify display lyrics only for songs played inside their own apps and require a paid subscription to that service. Huqqs works with any music the device microphone can hear, adds a full audio-reactive 3D visualizer and an optional dancing pet, and is free to download. See a full comparison.
Does Huqqs require an account or collect personal data?
No account or sign-in is required. Raw microphone audio is never stored. Song identification sends only a derived fingerprint to Apple ShazamKit, and lyric sync may send a short audio sample to Huqqs' own servers, which is never stored. Read the privacy policy.
